Christchurch

What a town this would have been before the huge quakes, it is still a very lively town now but the town itself is kinda depressing. There are buildings falling down everywhere and even after a year later they still have a massive red zone where no one can come near or in. They are still all waiting for the quakes to stop before rebuilding. But the people are very nice and what is left of most of the city is very cool, the buildings that fell must have been awesome cause the left overs is very interesting. But on another note we spent a day or so here before we had to head back up north cause Bryans job interviews went so well they want another one (3rd time) so we will see how that goes. But for now here is what we saw of Christchurch.

Finally made it

First thing we see

very sad...everything torn down

This was in down town center...couldnt get much closer

Little town of lyttelton...didnt think they got hit by the earthquakes but they did

Conext boxes holding up this structure

They had so many old buildings like this one, that brought so much character to the town

there is a roof in there somewhere

There are houses everywhere like this...if its not this they are flattened out lots where a house once stood for sale or half broken down houses for sale

Can you see the road bending upwards

City red zone..they are letting any construction be done to the town till the quakes fully stop

Paintings like these all over buildings

ya i would call that a sink hole...quite a few of these around

The top to this building was about to fall so they took it off

So yes there wasnt much to see that wasnt destroyed.. plus we went on 2 very rainy days so made the town even more depressing looking. But one day it will be renovated and be one of the liveliest cities in New Zealand.. But for now its just not for us, the kiwi locals need the jobs there not us.. But since Bryan got a calling to go back north, we headed up that way..so here we go to see Kiakoura
